西米良村は九州山地のほぼ中央に位置し、山林が96%を占め宮崎県で人口が最も少ない（約1,000人）自然豊かな村です。

西米良ゆずは標高600メートルと高所で育ち、昼夜の寒暖差、斜面を利用した栽培、厳しい環境で育つゆずは、実にたっぷりと香りを蓄えて育ちます。

約50年前に西米良の特産品をつくるため「西米良村ゆず振興部会」が発足し60件の生産者で量を増やしていきました。
現在、47戸の生産者により​西米良ゆずを守りつくり続けています。​

Nishimera Village is located almost in the center of the Kyushu Mountains. 96% of the village is covered by forests, making it a naturally rich village with the smallest population (approximately 1,000 people) in Miyazaki Prefecture.

 

Nishimera yuzu grows at an altitude of 600 meters, and the harsh environment, with large temperature differences between day and night and cultivation taking advantage of the slopes, allows the yuzu to thrive, rich in flavor. About 50 years ago, the Nishimera Village Yuzu Promotion Committee was established to produce Nishimera's specialty products, and 60 producers have grown the product, increasing production.​​

Currently, 47 producers continue to protect and cultivate Nishimera yuzu.
